• What is Alathia?

Alathia (A-LAY-THEA) is the name given to all our equine assisted programs. The word means “truth” and it reflects the essential honesty of a horse’s nature.

Horses have a unique capacity to respond to humans.

  • What is Equine Assisted Learning?

Equine assisted learning (EAL) is an experiential form of skill based learning.

Our horses provide a non-judgmental environment in which the client is free to learn. We don’t have set expectations for our clients but provide a pathway for them to experience growth in themselves as they work alongside their horse.

  • Is the program the same every week?

Each week the program focuses on a different objective from connection to communication, self awareness, leadership, creativity and agency.

We offer both group and individual sessions dependent on need and availability.

  • What is the cost of the program?

All our Alathia programs are philanthropically funded so there is no cost to participants. While this limits the number of programs we can run, it also enables many people to participate who might not otherwise have the opportunity to engage with us.

  • What should I wear?

For the protection and safety of our participants, we request that everyone wears sturdy boots or enclosed shoes.

Clothing suggestions are long pants (jeans and trousers) and t-shirts and jumpers.

  • Is horse riding included?

There will be no riding of horses by participants in the Alathia programs.
